Welcome back to Bisconti Computers, your go-to destination for all your computer needs. In today’s blog post, we’ll guide you through the process of cleaning your computer’s external components. Regular cleaning not only keeps your computer looking its best but also helps maintain its performance. While we’re always here to assist with internal maintenance at our shop, we believe in empowering our customers with the knowledge to care for their devices.

The Importance of External Cleaning

Your computer’s external components, such as the keyboard, screen, and casing, are exposed to dust, dirt, and fingerprints regularly. Over time, these can accumulate and affect not only the aesthetics but also the performance of your computer. Here’s a step-by-step guide to keeping your computer in pristine condition:

Step 1: Gather Your Cleaning Supplies

Before you begin, ensure you have the following supplies:

  • A microfiber cloth: These are gentle on surfaces and highly effective at picking up dust and smudges.
  • Compressed air: Use this to blow away dust and debris from hard-to-reach places.
  • Screen cleaning solution (available at our store): Ideal for cleaning your screen without causing damage.

Step 2: Power Off Your Computer

Ensure your computer is powered off and unplugged from any power source before you start cleaning. This prevents any electrical mishaps and ensures your safety.

Step 3: Cleaning the Keyboard

  • Gently shake your keyboard to dislodge loose debris.
  • Use compressed air to blow away any remaining dust from between the keys.
  • Wipe the keys and the surface with a microfiber cloth lightly dampened with water or a screen cleaning solution.

Step 4: Cleaning the Casing

  • Wipe down the computer’s casing with a microfiber cloth. For stubborn spots, lightly dampen the cloth.
  • Be sure to pay extra attention to areas with vents or ports, as they tend to collect more dust.

Step 5: Cleaning the Screen

  • Use the screen cleaning solution available at our store for best results. Spray it onto the microfiber cloth, not directly onto the screen.
  • Gently wipe the screen in a circular motion to remove fingerprints, smudges, and dust.

Step 6: Reassemble and Power On

Once everything is clean and dry, reassemble your computer and power it on. You’ll notice a significant improvement in both appearance and performance.

Remember, while this guide covers external cleaning, it’s equally important to bring your computer to our shop for professional internal maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
